SOUTH KOREA


South Korea, officially the Republic of Korea (ROK), is a country in East Asia. It constitutes the southern half of the Korean Peninsula and borders North Korea along the Korean Demilitarized Zone, with the Yellow Sea to the west and the Sea of Japan to the east. South Korea claims to be the sole legitimate government of the entire peninsula and adjacent islands. It has a population of about 52 million, of which half live in the Seoul metropolitan area, the ninth most populous metropolitan area in the world, with other major cities being Busan, Daegu, and Incheon.

South Korea ranks as the 13th largest economy in the world by nominal GDP, but holds significantly higher positions across various global indexes, securing 5th for military strength, 4th for passport mobility, and consistently placing 1st in global average IQ testing.

1. GDP: 13th largest globally by nominal GDP and 14th by purchasing power parity (PPP).
2. Stock Market: The 6th largest equity market value in the world.

1. Military Strength: 5th out of 145 countries considered for the annual Global Firepower review.
2. National Power: Ranks 11th globally in the National Power category for political influence and global alliances.

Society & Education
1. Cognitive Scores: Placed 1st in the world in the latest International IQ test rankings.
2. Rule of Law: Ranks 19th out of 142 countries worldwide according to the World Justice Project Rule of Law Index.

Tourism & Quality of Life
1. Passport Power: 4th globally, providing visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to over 173 destinations.
2. City Attractiveness: The capital, Seoul, ranks 5th globally in the Global Tourism City Attractiveness Index.
3. Best Countries: Ranked 20th overall on the U.S. News & World Report Best Countries.

The NP Chronicle  5th July Pusarla Venkata Sindhu (born 5 July 1995) is an Indian badminton player. Considered as one of India's most successful athletes, Sindhu has won medals at tournaments such as the Olympic Games, the World Championships, and on the World Tour.
